City of Oberlin,
Ohio Selects SafeScene for Automatic Firefighter Accountability
ROCHESTER HILLS, Michigan – March 31,
2009 – Azure Wireless, the developer of SafeScene, the world’s only
completely automatic accountability system for first responders
announced that the City of Oberlin, Ohio has selected SafeScene to
provide on-scene accountability to its firefighters.
SafeScene is a software application that
utilizes RFID to detect the arrival of first responders at an emergency
scene. Replacing traditional, manual means of first responder
accountability, SafeScene is the world’s only completely automatic
accountability system that requires no manual actions. By automating
accountability, SafeScene improves accountability and incident response,
improves safety with automatic visual and audible PAR timers, eliminates
problems associated with lost, misplaced or destroyed accountability
tags, assists with NIMS and NFPA compliance, improves incident review
with comprehensive, time-stamped report logs of all on-scene activities
and seamlessly interfaces with leading third party incident management
systems.
“SafeScene will provide us with
automatic accountability of our personnel and allow us to manage the
incident more efficiently and safely and comply with key NFPA standards.
SafeScene is easy to use and requires no setup at the incident. With
SafeScene we can eliminate the use of accountability tags and other
manual, resource-intensive means of presence recognition and management
of first responders, which allows us to focus on the incident scene. We
can manage the entire incident very thoroughly with SafeScene,” said
Dennis Kirin, Fire Chief for the City of Oberlin.
Oberlin Fire Department’s primary
responsibility is to the citizens of Oberlin,
OH, with contracted fire
protection to New
Russia Township. The total fire
protection area is approximately 25 square miles with a population over
